After a two-year break from the market, the Jeep Cherokee has finally returned to the off-road brand’s line-up. It comes at an important time for Jeep, since it has had a large hole between its entry-level, and fairly old, Compass compact, and the larger, more premium, and more expensive Grand Cherokee line. Additionally, the new Cherokee shows that Jeep and Stellantis aren’t just going to stick V8s into everything now that emissions regulations and penalties are easing. That’s because the Cherokee is launching with just one powertrain to start: a hybrid four-cylinder.
