Dollar for dollar, is there a more perfect rural sports sedan than the Subaru WRX? That’s a great big ‘probably not’, though the Volkswagen Golf R and Toyota GR Corolla (both hatchbacks) are worth strong consideration as well, particularly if you’re not too fussy on body style. For this writer, a sedan fan, the WRX is the machine of choice for traveling in my Northern Ontario locale, lined by its winding empty highways and backroads that spend plenty of their year beneath snow and ice and sand.
