AvalonBay Communities recently broke ground on Avalon Northwest Hills, a 252-unit apartment community in Central Austin, marking the company’s second ground-up construction start. Â
The 252-unit podium-style community is located between MoPac and Loop 360 in Northwest Hills, an area with limited recent building activity. In a release, AvalonBay adds that there was only one other construction start in the location in the past decade. Industry data shows that multifamily groundbreakings in Austin fell to a 14-year low in the third quarter, with only 600 units starting construction.
Amenities include a resident lounge with co-working space, fitness center, bike room, pool deck, and a rooftop indoor/outdoor amenity with panoramic views of downtown Austin, The Domain, and the UT Tower. Â
The community is situated between Downtown Austin/CBD and The Domain. Â
Construction began in October and first move-ins are expected in late 2027. Â
