Ever since the famed General Motors designer Harley Earl dreamed up the Corvette as America’s answer to Europe’s lightweight, nimble sports cars, it has tried to be taken seriously next to the Porsches and Ferraris of the world in a way that a traditional muscle car simply couldn’t. Through the eight Corvette generations we have seen so far, GM has added more refinement and more power to the package, while keeping the price well below the European thoroughbreds it is competing with.
