Oldsmobile. At one point in history, it was one of the most revered and respected brands to come out of the United States. It was the first to introduce a mass-produced car, the Olds Curved Dash, which first saw the light of day in 1901. Oldsmobile also introduced the first American car to come with an automatic transmission in 1940. During the classic muscle car era, Olds produced the 4-4-2, a Cutlass-derived muscle car that was informally known as “The Gentleman’s Muscle Car.”
