The Yangwang U8 is already a ridiculously capable vehicle. As the flagship SUV in BYD’s premium luxury brand, it has four electric motors – one per wheel – with a range extender for a total of 1,180 horsepower. The powertrain enables a 360-degree tank turn like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class with EQ Technology, and believe it or not, the extended-range electric vehicle can even drive completely submerged. Keen to prove its big SUV’s extreme capability even more, Yangwang dropped a huge palm tree trunk onto an extended-wheelbase U8L, showing off how little damage it sustained even after multiple impacts.
