It’s easy to see: the manual transmission is suffering a slow death. At one point, nearly all base-level cars sold in the US, along with most sports cars, were sold with manuals. However, as time has gone on, the automatic transmission has become cheaper to produce, and folks simply aren’t interested in riding a clutch in stop-and-go-traffic, the humble stick shift is slowly becoming a forgotten relic of the automotive past.
