The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has agreed to a land sale deal following a recent public hearing.
The county has agreed to sell about a third of the Chantilly law enforcement training campus for $166.8 million to a data center developer. The site spans approximately 42 acres of county-owned land off Stonecroft Boulevard, near the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. which is currently used for police training.
The buyer, SCG Global Holdings LLC, an affiliate of Miami-based Starwood Capital Group, is already actively developing a massive data center campus in nearby Herndon, reported the Washington Business Journal.
With the approval in hand, the county and the developer will enter a contingency period until March 24, 2027, for the 41.7 acres. The sale amounts to about $4 million an acre. The county also expects to generate about $20 million in tax revenue once the data center development is complete.
