It’s very likely that anyone reading this will be well aware of Saab’s origins as an aircraft manufacturer, and while most of its vehicles bore little more than a modicum of resemblance to the exceptionally cool fighter jets that it manufactured, Easter eggs littered about the vehicles in their design and ergonomics proved to be enough of a nod to aviation to breed an entire fan base of fiercely loyal Saab customers and enthusiasts. And for those who couldn’t care less about driving ‘a fighter for the road,’ Saab’s road cars were also exceptional in every way and great to drive, live with and own, right from the iconic 900 Turbo to the rip-snorting 9-3 Turbo X. And yet that somehow couldn’t save the fabled marque from filing for bankruptcy in 2011.
