CVS Health opened a pharmacy-only store at 2628 W. Pershing Rd. in Chicago’s West End neighborhood.
“Our new, pharmacy-only locations allow our pharmacy teams to continue to build relationships with patients – their friends and neighbors – and provide on the ground pharmacy care in communities that need us,” said Len Shankman, Executive Vice President and President, Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness, CVS Health.
The new stores average around 3,000 square feet, about half the size of traditional locations, and offer a full-service pharmacy with over-the-counter products. CVS has strategically realigned its retail footprint over the last few years in response to shifts in the pharmacy industry.
In addition to the new Chicago site, CVS plans to open four more locations in Illinois this year. The company also expects to open pharmacy-only locations in Houston, Roxbury, Detroit and Brooklyn in 2026.
