Over the past few decades, police have scaled up their vehicular equipment. Once upon a time, police fleets mostly consisted of large sedans, but those have steadily given way to SUVs, particularly Ford Explorers and Dodge Durangos, even some Chevy Tahoes. Technically, some departments have even bigger vehicles, including pickup trucks, but none of them are designed for pursuit duty. Ram has changed that, and it went really big, for better or worse.
