Denver pro sports teams are looking to develop top-shelf sports and entertainment districts. The Denver Business Journal reports the Broncos, Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets and Denver Summit FC are planning new stadiums and large mixed-use developments around their stadiums.
The teams will come close to 500 acres of development between them.
The Broncos plan to develop roughly 150 acres around Burnham Yard, which is the team’s preferred site for a new retractable-roof stadium. The stadium and a preliminary entertainment district are expected to open by 2031 with surrounding development to follow.
The Summit is looking to build a 14,500-seat stadium on 14 acres with a park, hotel, residences and retail offerings developed nearby. The city of Denver is contributing $70 million toward land and infrastructure for the Summit stadium site. The Summit’s new stadium won’t be delivered until the 2028-2029 NWSL season.
The Ball Arena development’s first phase includes two multifamily buildings (shown), a performance venue and a 13-story hotel, along with a pedestrian bridge over Speer Boulevard, called Wynkoop Crossing. Phase one is targeting 2032 for delivery.
