Academy Sports + Outdoors has signed a lease to occupy the former 130,000-square-foot Macy’s space at Fairview Town Center, a 921,075-square-foot lifestyle center located in Fairview, roughly 30 miles north of downtown Dallas. Academy’s new store, which is currently being remodeled, will span 65,400 square feet and is expected to open by this summer.
The lease was secured with the assistance of Shop Companies, led by Thomas Glendenning, whose team played a key role in repositioning the large-format space. The addition of Academy Sports + Outdoors represents a major backfill of space vacated by Macy’s.
Academy Sports + Outdoors, founded in 1938, is one of the nation’s largest sporting goods and outdoor recreation retailers. The company carries a wide assortment of apparel, footwear, and sports and outdoor equipment and serves customers across hundreds of U.S. stores and through digital platforms.
