Skanska USA expects to spend at least $110 million on the multifamily component of a mixed-use project in Houston’s Montrose district (photo). The Houston Business Journal reports the location for the 31-story Starling Tower at 1005 Westheimer Road was once home to a retail plaza. Skanska paid $27 million to acquire the 2.86-acre site in August 2020. The retail plaza was demolished in 2021 to make way for Skanska’s new development. The project is expected to break ground in October and wrap up in February 2029. Page has been hired to design the project.
The two-story retail development will have at least 10 spaces totaling 30,000 square feet. The spaces will range in size from 1,300 to 7,000 square feet, with five outdoor patio areas.
Wade Greene and Hannah Schiro of Colliers’ Houston office have been tapped to pre-lease the project’s retail spaces before construction gets underway.
