Rowan Digital secured $3 billion in debt financing to help build a 300-megawatt data center campus in Temple. It’s the first of three planned data center campuses in the town north of Austin. The company earlier this year broke ground on the 707-acre campus. It’s located northeast of the intersection of Bob White Road and Lorraine Avenue.
The Austin Business Journal reports the plan for the first project includes a 1-million-square-foot building and provides up to 300 megawatts of available power. The company has recently ramped up work at the site with general contractor HITT Contracting Inc. The project is anticipated to be completed mid-to-late next year.
All in all, the group’s plans in Temple could represent a $2.1 billion investment for all three projects.
Rowan said that it offers net-zero power solutions, with a focus on renewable energy. All of Rowan’s projects intend to use closed-loop water systems, which are filled once and then cycled throughout the project’s lifecycle.
