We’re Close
Slate Automotive made headlines promising to deliver an EV pickup truck for $25,000. After receiving multiple instances of funding from a wide range of investors, including Carvana as a major backer, it looks like we’ll finally be able to see what the company has to offer with its $25,000 EV pickup truck.
So far, things are shaping up well for the new EV maker, with funding coming in and a set launch date, the Detroit Free Pressreported. Hopefully, Slate powers through the growing pains that other budding automakers face, but that remains to be seen.
The EV landscape is becoming increasingly competitive as days roll by, not just in the United States but also around the world, especially in China. With cars hitting all-time highs in power, features, and price, seeing an electric car for twenty-five grand may just be what the doctor ordered, given the economy and energy crisis.

Slate Auto
Launching in June, Delivered Q4 2026
Anyway, Slate Auto is set to announce the final price and reveal the production version on June 24, 2026. Recalling other news, the company promised that the electric pickup will be around the mid-20,000 mark. Our best guess is somewhere around $25,000. Slate Auto also mentioned that it will start deliveries by the end of the year in Q4.
We’re expecting the price to start in the mid-20s, but it could go up depending on the configurations customers choose. Two battery options will be available: 52.7 kWh and 84.3 kWh units, paired with a 150 kW motor in the rear, which nets a power figure of 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. Charging speeds are said to be up to 120 kW on a DC fast charger.
The body of the pickup truck can also be customized with about 100 wrap colors and fitted with graphics. Plus, there are other variants of the pickup: three body styles, including a two-door pickup, fastback, and squareback SUV.

Simple and Affordable
The other big push Slate Auto is making is its focus on product simplicity. Right off the factory floor, every Slate Auto pickup is said to contain fewer than 800 parts, which is about a fifth of the number in a typical pickup truck.
Simplicity is one of the key factors driving consumer interest, and as a result, fixes will potentially be simpler. Slate Auto is also targeting a very low price point by foregoing many industry standards that cost millions to implement. Considering that Slate Auto will rely on wrapping its cars to achieve a specific hue, it can save millions on paint and infrastructure and still deliver a product with a pop of color.
We’ll just have to wait and see just how impressive Slate’s pickup truck will be. Considering the price, it won’t be the greatest, but it has the potential to be one of the best values in the market when it’s released. Just a few more months.
