When people think of limousines, they usually picture long-wheelbase Cadillacs, Lincolns, or perhaps an old luxury sedan destined for wedding duty. A classic pony car, like a Ford Mustang, however, is probably the last vehicle that comes to mind. Yet that’s exactly what one ambitious builder created with this stretched 1966 Ford Mustang, which is currently up for grabs on Bring a Trailer. At the time of writing, bidding has reached just $15,000, with the auction scheduled to end on July 28.

This unusual Mustang started life as a standard T-code coupe before being transformed into a limousine sometime before 2000. The conversion involved stretching the wheelbase to an enormous 182 inches (15.17 feet), while overall length now measures 257 inches (21.42 feet). To make the design work, the builder fabricated a custom B-pillar and cleverly repurposed a second set of front doors as reverse-opening rear doors. Finished in Tahoe Turquoise with a white vinyl roof, the car also features custom lighting details, GT-style exhaust tips, a boomerang antenna, and 17-inch Torq Thrust-style wheels. While modern Mustangs such as the GT and Dark Horse are packed with electronics and complex engineering that would make a limousine conversion incredibly difficult, the simplicity of a 1960s Mustang made projects like this possible.

Power comes from a 289-cubic-inch V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. According to the seller, the engine was rebuilt around eight years ago, while recent maintenance included numerous new parts, including a new carburetor and battery. Inside, the front cabin features two-tone Pony-style upholstery, a retro-looking Bluetooth audio system, air conditioning, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The rear compartment follows the “less is more” philosophy by offering two rows of seating, which look at each other, its own air-conditioning system, a divider separating passengers from the driver, and a pop-up sunroof.

On Bring a Trailer, there is a wide range of Mustangs you can choose from, including some Shelby cars. That said, those cars cost an arm and a leg, more often than not. A Mustang limousine that’s expected to sell for well under $50,000? Whether it’s brilliant or completely ridiculous depends on who you ask. What is certain is that this stretched Mustang is one of the most unusual pony cars you’ll ever come across. For collectors, businessmen, or just someone with an alternative taste in cars, something like this Mustang limousine conversion certainly delivers.
