New Face For 2027
The 2027 Kia Niro gets a facelift, having last been redesign for the second generation in the 2022 model year. Kia adopts a cleaner take on the “Opposites United” design language with front fascia that we’d describe as less busy that last year’s model. New vertical headlights incorporate vertical and horizontal lighting elements that are reminiscent of the larger Sorento. Revised bumper treatments further add to the more mature look.

Kia adds two new colors to the pallet, including Ivory Silver and the picture Sunset Beige. It appears the Niro’s controversial black side blade has been removed for 2027. Wheel sizes range from 16 inches on the LX, S, EX, and SX trims to 18 inches on the SX Touring trim.

Inside, the Niro benefits from a technology upgrade with a new panoramic curved display, made up of a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a four-inch digital cluster or an optional 12.3-inch one. Buyers can opt for a two-tone steering wheel to enhance the Niro’s luxury feel, which is further enhanced with available heated/ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, Harmon Kardon audio, and more.
Those new screens now feature Kia Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) on certain trims, enabling access to streaming services such as Disney+, Netflix, and YouTube. Owners can also access personalized themes from Disney and all 30 NBA teams through the Kia Connect Store.
Just A Hybrid This Time
Kia
Before this 2027 model was even announced, Kia discontinued the Niro Plug-In Hybrid and the Niro Electric, leaving only the standard hybrid powertrain. Buyers who want to go electric can opt for the upcoming Kia EV3.
The Niro pairs a 1.6-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor, producing 139 combined horsepower through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission going out to front-wheel-drive. Fuel economy has not been announced, but it should be close to last year’s model: 53-mpg city, 45-mpg highway, 49-mpg combined. Kia says the 2027 model makes refinements to the suspension tuning for improved ride comfort and cabin quietness.
Sales of the 2027 Niro are expected to start this summer.
