BayCare Health System has topped out its $563 million hospital in Palmetto. The 463,000-square-foot facility is slated to open near the end of 2028. The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports the hospital will include 154 private patient rooms and can expand to over 200 beds as demand accelerates. Emergency care, general and specialty surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, orthopedics and diagnostic and interventional imaging will all be available as will a neonatal intensive care unit.
Last April, the system broke ground on the project on Moccasin Wallow Road. Robins & Morton is the general contractor.
A 46,000-square-foot BayCare HealthHub is also set to open on the campus in late 2026. HealthHubs are specialized, one-stop centers spread across the region offering primary care, specialty services, physical therapy, imaging and digital health tools in one location.
