Audi’s New Q7 Starts Nearly $9,000 Higher Than Before

The 2027 Audi Q7 made its world premiere just a few months ago, and it’s already available in some European markets. In the U.S., the wait will be a little longer, as the redesigned SUV will reach customers by the fourth quarter of this year.

Still, the German automaker is gearing up for the arrival of this crucial model stateside. With that, pricing and trims have been announced. So for those keen on buying one, read on.

At Least $7,000 More

The U.S-spec Audi Q7 will be offered in three trims, namely Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. It follows Audi’s usual trim hierarchy to keep things nice and simple and often bundles many desirable packages and options into a single variant. What is shocking here would be the pricing, and you might want to hold on to your checkbooks for this.

For 2027, the base Premium starts at $70,900, while the Premium Plus starts at $75,300. As for the range-topping Prestige, it blows past the $80,000 mark with an MSRP of $84,900. For reference, the 2026 Q7 starts at $62,000 for the Premium, $65,800 for the Premium Plus, and $77,100 for the Prestige. If we’re talking price differences, the Premium is $8,900 more, the Premium Plus is $9,500 more, and the Prestige is $7,800 more.

Why the Pricing?

So, it’s quite a big jump over current prices, but the 2027 Q7 does pack a whole lot more features, and a total reengineering of a model isn’t exactly cheap. Also, the all-new Q7 gets turbo V6 power standard, even in the ‘base’ Premium model, where it was previously an option. For the standard V6, you’d have to go for the Prestige for the outgoing model.

There’s no more base four-cylinder for the redesigned Q7, so it’s bound to push up those base prices. It’s also worth pointing out that the new standard engine has far more power than the old V6, with the new 2.9-liter twin-turbo unit producing 429 hp and 442 lb-ft, up from the old 3.0-liter turbo V6’s 335 hp and 369 lb-ft.

If it’s V6 versus V6 pricing we’re comparing, it’s an increase of less than 5% over the outgoing Q7 55 TFSI quattro models. For reference, the Premium 55 TFSI Quattro currently goes for $68,100, while the V6-equipped Premium Plus is currently at $73,400. Suddenly, that price gap between outgoing and incoming isn’t so big anymore.

Other Highlights

The Premium already comes very well-equipped, too. It comes standard with LED headlights with animation and 3 digital DRL signatures, adaptive cruise assist with lane departure warning, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and virtual cockpit plus, to name a few. Tire pressure monitoring is also included, as are power-folding third-row seats, top-view camera, dual wireless charging, head-insulating glass, and a panoramic sunroof. Also, there are six child seat mounting points in this SUV, so there’s no excuse not to use child seats in one of these.

Go for the Premium Plus, which adds a Bang & Olufsen Premium sound system with 3D sound, a dashcam, a driver-monitoring camera, soft-close doors, and ventilated front seats. As for the Prestige, it has everything the Premium and Premium Plus have, along with Digital Matrix LED headlights, adaptive air suspension, head-up display, front sport seats plus, power adjustable bolsters and massage function, and more. The Launch Edition adds another $4,850 to the list price, and the Luxury Package, which adds automatic motorized doors, costs an extra $4,000.

The Audi Q7 was never a cheap car, but the new generation brings this model to a much higher level than before. Then again, after a decade in the market without a full redesign, the all-new model was bound to be a shock to the senses, price and all. The arrival of the new Q7 is just the start, though, as the Q9 will be revealed soon, along with a load of model updates for 2027.
