“I want to build a civilized version of our racing car,” said legendary racing driver and engineer Bruce McLaren to a reporter in the late sixties. “Some way down the line, I think it’s bound to happen.” You might think his vision was realized with the record-breaking 1992 McLaren F1, but it actually came much earlier with the 1969 M6GT prototype. The only issue? He died before his dream was realized, only witnessing a handful of road-legal McLarens and never bearing witness to the full might of McLaren Automotive.
