Dodge continues its seemingly perpetual race for more power by teasing the most powerful SixPack-powered Charger, which is set to debut at the 11th MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge event on August 7.
Dodge’s most powerful muscle car is currently the Charger Daytona Scat Pack, which churns out 670 horsepower, but many die-hard Dodge fans have a problem with that model being all-electric.
If you want a gas-powered Charger, the most power you can currently have is 550 hp from the Charger Scat Pack. This model is powered by the 3.0-liter twin-turbo SixPack high-output (H.O.) engine, which is the most powerful Hurricane engine in production.
The New Charger Super Bee May Change Its Tune to a Six-Cylinder Buzz
Mind you, that will change soon because Dodge is getting ready to take the wraps off its most powerful SixPack-powered Charger yet at the Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge press preview on August 6 at M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan.
“Every year, Roadkill Nights gives us the chance to turn up the volume on Woodward Avenue with something bigger, louder and faster, and this year, Dodge is raising the bar again,” said Dodge CEO Matt McAlear.
“We’re about to reveal the most powerful SIXPACK-powered Charger we’ve ever built, then spend the next day shoulder to shoulder with the enthusiasts who live and breathe Dodge performance. If you love muscle cars, horsepower and the culture that surrounds them, Roadkill Nights is exactly where you want to be.”
Dodge has released a video teaser titled “The next era of Dodge muscle. Coming 8.7.26.” on its social media channels, but there’s not that much we can draw from it other than the obvious bee references.
Expect More Than 600 Horsepower and Super Bee Graphics
The short video shows a drag strip lights tree being invaded by a swarm of bees as its amber lights flash, which most likely hints at Dodge releasing a new Charger Super Bee. As the lights turn green, the bees scatter, and the video ends with Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” playing over an alternating black-and-yellow screen.
While the message appears to be that a Charger Super Bee is on the way, details are yet to be released. It remains to be seen how much power the Super Bee will have compared to the Charger Scat Pack’s 550 hp.
We’d say 600+ horses should be easy to squeeze from the Hurricane engine, but we don’t expect the output to go much over that threshold as that would overlap with the all-electric Charger Daytona Scat Pack’s 670 hp, which is already massively outsold by gas-powered Chargers.
Plus, Dodge describes the new model as “the most powerful SixPack-powered Charger,” not the most powerful Charger, which the Daytona Scat Pack will remain for the time being. The new Charger Super Bee should also leave room for the Hemi V8-powered Charger SRT Hellcat Dodge will ultimately bring back.
Bee graphics should be a given, though, as Dodge did the same when it launched the 2023 Charger Super Bee limited-run muscle car that featured a 485-hp 6.4-liter naturally aspirated Hemi V8.
The Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge returns August 8 for its 11th year and will feature two live venues for the first time: drag racing on Woodward Avenue and a new road course track shootout at M1 Concourse, where the Charger Super Bee will presumably make its public debut on August 8.
Tickets start at $25 and will provide fans with expanded access to street-legal drag racing as well as Dodge NHRA drivers Tony Stewart, Leah Pruett, Matt Hagan and Ida Zetterstrom, plus Ram NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers Corey Lajoie, Brenden Queen and Justin Haley.
