A Kroger Marketplace is taking over a former Walmart store near Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody. The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that Kimco, the owner of Perimeter Village since 2022, worked out the deal with Kroger’s to take over 118,000 square feet of the 183,000 square foot building. Walmart vacated its space in 2024.
The plan for the super-sized market includes a drive-thru pharmacy and fuel station, as well as a Starbucks coffee counter and specialty departments such as baby apparel and kitchenware.
Located at Ashford Dunwoody Road and Meadow Lane, the shopping center dates back to the 1990s. Current retail tenants include Carter’s, DSW, Hobby Lobby, Perimeter Bottle Shop and World Market, along with several restaurants and service-based establishments.
Kroger has not said when it plans to open the new store. It’s also not clear what Kimco’s plans are for the remaining space in the former Walmart building.
