The used-car market is full of hidden gems, but few are as genuinely surprising as the 2014–2016 Hyundai Equus. Here is a full-size luxury sedan that originally stickered close to $70,000, came loaded with features that rivaled the Lexus LS and Mercedes-Benz S-Class of its era, and can now be had for less than the cost of a base Toyota Camry. We reviewed the 2016 Hyundai Equus when it was new and compared it favorably with the original Lexus LS — and that is not a comparison we make lightly, given that a couple of devoted LS fans are on staff. Beyond some superficial styling similarities, the two sedans share a more meaningful parallel: both represent their respective brands’ deliberate push into a more premium product segment.
