We’ve seen Larte Design produce some rather horrible body kits over the years, including colored carbon fiber packages for models like the Cadillac Escalade. The tuner has now unveiled its first complete widebody kit for the current Mercedes G-Class, and while it’s as outlandish as anything Mansory produces, the lack of tinted carbon helps it retain just a slight amount of refinement.
The kit consists of 16 individual pieces, many made from lightweight carbon fiber. A wild hood has been added to the front of the G-Wagen, complemented by a radical new bumper, central grille, and emblem. No doubt the most striking part of this G’s front end is the illuminated strakes on the underside of the bumper. As far as DRLs go, these are amongst the most intriguing we’ve ever seen.

Then we get to the sides. Obviously, the kit includes flared front and rear wheel arches, finished in exposed carbon fiber. New side skirts also catch the eye, as do the 19-inch black aftermarket wheels. On the roof sits a carbon fiber lighting cluster at the front, while positioned at the rear is a tiny carbon fiber spoiler, not that a vehicle like the G 63 needs any downforce over the rear wheels.
Other important upgrades include new side exhaust tips, a carbon spare wheel cover, a carbon rear bumper, and new LED taillights. These two initial show cars have been presented in black and titanium paint finishes, though owners can choose from pretty much any color under the sun.
Whereas companies like Brabus and Mansory pair their G-Class bodykits with significant mechanical changes, Larte hasn’t touched the Mercedes powertrain. As such, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology still delivers 577 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. Those figures, combined with a thunderous soundtrack, have helped make the G63 an icon. This kit certainly won’t appeal to all owners, but it should suit some.
