Fans of Subaru’s performance lineup have reason to be excited. Subaru has put together something special for them with the release of a first look at the forthcoming limited-edition 2027 WRX and 2027 BRZ. These are set to make their official debut on September 27 at Boxerfest 2026, which will be held at the York Fairgrounds in Pennsylvania.
Subaru is not giving much away ahead of time, yet the one teaser image offered up a few hints. The most obvious is a distinctive “tS” badge on display, pointing to the fact that these limited-run cars will likely be built on the current WRX tS and BRZ tS platforms as opposed to being something altogether new.
The teaser does show off what could be the WRX’s most striking visual update: a sizeable carbon-fiber rear spoiler over the trunk. It is an indication that Subaru may be in the process of putting together a more assertive aerodynamic package for the limited-edition model. We can only speculate if the BRZ will be given the same kind of treatment until the reveal.
There is logic to using the tS as a foundation. The “tuned by STI” moniker has always been about bettering the chassis and handling, not just throwing horsepower at the problem. One would expect that approach to continue with these special editions, even if the extent of the modifications remains to be seen.
For now, that is the question. With the teaser concentrating on exterior flourishes and the tS nameplate, there is no sign from Subaru of any under-hood improvements to either car. It seems the focus will be on looks and tuning rather than raw power.
