Yesterday, we spotted a new banner in Gemini officially announcing the end of Gemini Gems as we know them. While the banner confirmed that Gems will migrate to Skills starting November 17, it left one major question unanswered: how will users with free accounts access their Gems after the migration? Well, we finally have the answer, and thankfully, Google isn’t hanging free users out to dry.
According to a Google Support page that’s now live, the company is opening up Skills access to all Gemini users aged 18 or older. Google has dropped the requirement for Google AI Pro or Ultra, and Skills in Gemini are now available to everyone with a personal Google account. If you have been using Gemini for free and were worried about accessing your Gems once they become Skills, you can now rest easy. You’ll be able to access the Skills page the same way you accessed Gems: just go to Settings > Skills.
