The last couple of presidential administrations have been openly hostile toward the idea of Chinese cars coming into the US. Tariffs and other laws have been enacted to keep them out, but they also have caused some collateral damage. Polestar has already been banned due to a rule about connected vehicles put in place during the Biden administration. Now, both the US Senate and House of Representatives are pushing laws that threaten even more established automakers.
