The BMW Individual Program
If you’re unsatisfied with the usual greyscale that we call colors in cars these days, BMW is more than willing to paint your car a special color from the factory. The BMW Individual program started way back in 1991 and made its public debut in 1992. Its first car was an E32 7 Series 750iL, designed by Karl Lagerfeld.
Since then, special shades have been applied to various BMW models, and in 2006, the program finally made it to the U.S. It has produced true bespoke models, and it’s not limited to the more expensive cars. Don’t be surprised if you see a low-spec 3 Series with a unique color if you’re abroad.

A One-of-One M4 CS Exists
The BMW M4 CSL was only available in three colors. These were Frozen Brooklyn Grey, Black Sapphire, and Alpine White, so there weren’t many choices. According to BMWBlog, more than half were in Frozen Brooklyn Grey, with the remaining two colors covering the rest.
However, the site, along with MDataWorks, found one owner who didn’t want any of the readily available paint jobs. Instead, said owner went to the Individual catalog and chose Frozen Tampa Bay Green for their M4 CSL. Turns out, no one else thought of choosing other shades for their coupe; hence, whoever bought the green CSL has a legit one-of-one.
Potential Sighting
Spotting the truly Individual M4 CSL won’t be easy, but it might have been sighted recently. MDataWorks says it was spotted in Berlin, and that the photo was later shared to a public Facebook page. Based on the car’s plate, it’s registered in Germany, so it’s not a tourist wandering around the city in a very distinct car.
While the unique color scheme does nothing for performance, we do have to say that Frozen Tampa Bay Green works very well with the M4 CSL. After all, that color already suits the standard M4, and the matte Frozen finish adds an air of distinction. It’s a fitting color for a unique car, and props to the owner for going outside of the usual color choices.
We’re genuinely curious if the car also has Individual touches on the inside. We wouldn’t be surprised if it does, which would make this car even more special. The G82 M4 CSL is rare, with only 1,036 built, but the person who chose this spec has made their example stand out.
