The latest global sales numbers for the Volkswagen Group support the controversial Future Plan 2030 to restore profitability by closing four German assembly plants and eliminating 100,000 jobs. In the third quarter that ended Sept. 30, VW Group sales fell 14.3% to 1.8 million vehicles. It’s the group’s worst quarterly performance since COVID-19 forced a 22% sales plunge in Q2 2022.
