While General Motors may steal the headlines with massive new engines, Ford isn’t keeping its power plants too small either, slowly increasing capacity across several products. The latest to benefit is the 2027 Ford Ranger, as a new order guide reveals, which is getting similar treatment to the F-150 and Bronco, replacing the optional 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 in the XLT and Lariat with a bigger, more powerful 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6. It’ll be paired exclusively with all-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission, but how much power and torque it will produce hasn’t been confirmed (nor has it for any other 2027 Ranger variant). Let’s see if we can work out what the Blue Oval has planned.
2027 Ford Ranger 3.0L Could Make Raptor-Rivaling Torque

The new V6 comes with the 300A and 301A equipment groups and the Lariat’s 500A package, while the base XL sticks with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, which is also the standard engine for the XLT and Lariat. In the 2027 F-150, the 3.0-liter engine replacing the 2.7 matches the outgoing mill (325 horsepower/400 lb-ft of torque), but in the 2027 Bronco, it makes up to 380 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque, up from 2026 2.7 V6 figures of 330 hp and 415 lb-ft. For the Ranger, which is built on the same T6 platform as the Bronco, the 2026 model’s 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 makes 315 hp and 400 lb-ft, so a jump to 380 hp and 440 lb-ft could be too extreme. It would also mean that the Ranger XLT or Ranger Lariat would equal the 2026 Ranger Raptor in torque, which might be a little excessive. That said, Ford is making the regular Ranger a little more capable than before in other areas, too, along with offering new paint and wheel options.
2027 Ranger Getting New Wheels, Paint, and More

Cole Attisha/Autoblog
For the 2027 Ranger, Ford is replacing the black Ford Oval with a traditional Blue Oval badge and removing the 17-inch black-painted steel wheels. New to the lineup are 17-inch black-painted aluminum wheels as standard on the XL, with a slightly different design for the XLT. This trim also gets a black-painted front fascia and rear bumper, and a painted center grille bar. 18-inch machined aluminum wheels are standard on the Lariat, which now has a smoked satin center bar, and black wheels come with the Black Appearance Package. Alternatively, new 20-inch bright machined aluminum wheels can be had on the Lariat. The 301A option on the 2027 Ranger means power-adjustable and heated front seats and a power-sliding rear window, while the FX4 package adds an electronic locking rear differential, a steel bash plate and other underbody shields, off-road shocks, Mud/Ruts and Sand drive modes, Trail Control, and the option of new rocker rails with hoop-style steps. As for paint, Carbonized Gray and Velocity Blue have been dropped in favor of the new Neptune Blue.

Elsewhere, Ford has added a 12-inch center display and dual-zone climate control as standard on the base XL, and there’s now the option of front deluxe carpeted floor mats. A new Space Gray interior color has also been added, replacing the Sandstone interior scheme, and the package offering has been updated: the Chrome Accent Package, Advanced Towing Package, Technology Package, Advanced Towing Plus Technology Package, and Sport Appearance Package have all been deleted, replaced by the Bronze Appearance Package, Bronze Appearance Graphics Delete option, Black Appearance Graphics Delete option, and the Luxury Package. A 5G modem has also been added, and Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is now available.
