The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) has opened a 90-unit tiny house village in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood.
Cloverleaf Tiny House Village at 9128 10th Ave. S. is LIHI’s largest village and will operate as a 24-hour shelter, reported the Puget Sound Business Journal. The Seattle-based nonprofit developed the project in partnership with New Direction Missionary Baptist Church.
Construction costs were expected to be $2.4 million ,and the 1.4-acre site is owned by an entity linked to Mac’s Upholstery. The project received nearly $2.8 million in grants from the Shelter Accelerator Fund, a public-private initiative between the city of Seattle and Challenge Seattle. Seattle Foundation contributed to the effort with funds from Microsoft, T-Mobile, Starbucks, and Seattle Mariners majority owner John Stanton and his wife, Terry Gillespie.
LIHI operates tiny house villages and affordable apartments across the region, with a portfolio of more than 4,000 affordable apartments. The organization operates 19 tiny house villages in King and Pierce counties.
