China is the world’s leader in industry, and that has produced an auto industry that’s really unlike any other in the world. Something that Chinese automakers can get away with that you won’t see Volkswagen or Ford attempting anytime soon is the production of copycat cars. If you want to stop China from copying your Land Rover Defender or Ford Bronco, you have to fly there and navigate Chinese copyright laws. In the meantime, they’ve already sold thousands of these things, because they can get a car into production faster than an American company can get a powerpoint presentation together for the next shareholder meeting.
