New Zealand outfit Gibbs Amphibians was established in the 90s with the purpose of creating real-world amphibious vehicles featuring a raft (see what we did there?) of innovations. Instead of taking an existing boat and attaching wheels and a car engine to it, the crew developed a brand-new vehicle from scratch, with usable speed on land and water a primary design aim.
