When Tesla revealed its new Robotaxi and Robobus self-driving taxi concepts in October 2024, it had not yet locked down the trademark permissions for those terms. Now, one trademark application for the “Robotaxi” term has reportedly been rejected by the USPTO for being too similar to other companies’ uses, with more applications on hold considering their similarity to terminology also used by other players in the market.
