A neat thing about being a BMW fan is that, if you can’t afford that new 530i or X5, you can just wait a few years. BMWs have some of the most notoriously steep depreciation in the industry. Not to paint a whole market demographic with a broad brush, but if you look at how buyers tend to behave, it’s not unfair to say that the typical driver of a brand-new European luxury car is probably willing to spend more to have the latest, most high-tech, most advanced version of a car. So you get high turnover, early trade-ins, and relatively low used car prices, in contrast with the original MSRP, at least.
