Authorities in the southeastern Michigan hamlet of Van Buren Township made a surprising discovery Monday, pulling a 1997 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra convertible from the bottom of Belleville Lake near the Rawsonville Road bridge crossing. It’s a total mystery how the car ended up in the mud or how long it had been down there, but local police think it has been years given the amount of crud built up on its formerly red sheet metal. Given the lack of other damage on the Mustang, it seems unlikely that it ended up underwater from a collision, which, if anything, only raises further questions.
