You can’t rest on your laurels in the automotive industry. Every day, powertrains get more powerful, 0-60 times get shorter, and, of course, safety features get safer as the technology becomes more advanced, and more accessible. So it shouldn’t come as that big a surprise that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has just announced that they’ll be incorporating scores for driver attention systems into their Top Safety Pick+ selection process. After all, these awards have as much to do with crashworthiness as they do with an automaker’s ability to keep up with new developments in automotive safety.
