
After three generations, the Dodge Viper was dropped from the brand’s lineup following the 2017 model year. While the car’s sales numbers had seen better days at this point, with the C6 and C7 Corvette cutting into its market share, what really killed the car off was new airbag regulations. Dodge couldn’t figure out where to install the federally mandated side airbags, and decided it made more sense to simply let the Viper ride off into the sunset rather than try to redesign the whole vehicle to make the technology work.
