Dieselgate was one of the most seismic scandals to ever hit the car industry. Volkswagen was at the center of this implosion when, in September 2015, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) determined that VW had installed emissions defeat devices in its diesel vehicles, to try and show that they were far cleaner than they actually were.
