- Nissan has teased the new Tekton that will debut in India next year.
- The SUV shares its CMF-B underpinnings with the Dacia/Renault Duster.
- It features Patrol-inspired styling cues and a more upmarket interior.
Nissan has given us a better look at its upcoming compact SUV that will be launched in 2026 starting from the Indian market. The Tekton is a rebadged version of the Dacia Duster, which will also be sold India as a Renault.
The model was originally announced in March 2024, but the new teasers reveal more of its design. The Tekton moniker originates from a Greek word that means craftsman or builder. The exterior is inspired by the Nissan Patrol flagship SUV, although a large portion of the bodywork is shared with the Duster.

The new model features a Nissan-specific design for the front end with C-shaped LED headlights and chrome inserts on the grille. We can also see the same sculpted hood as the Duster, albeit with Tekton lettering. The rugged front bumper sports aluminum-style inserts around the intakes, a design that is mirrored at the rear.
The sheet metal on the profile and the greenhouse are shared with Dacia’s SUV, although Nissan has added different side gills and new alloy wheels. The rear end features distinct taillights with Patrol-style LED graphics which are connected to the the Japanese brand’s emblem. While we don’t know the exact measurements, the Tekton’s length should be very close to the 4,343 mm (171 inches) of the Dacia.

During the video presentation, Nissan showed a single image of the dashboard that combines body-colored trim with glossy black and metal accents. The company didn’t show the digital cockpit but promises that the Tekton will have “advanced tech” and a “premium interior” calling it a “segment disruptor”.

The Tekton will ride on the CMF-B architecture which underpins the entire Dacia lineup and several Renault, Mitsubishi and Nissan models in Europe. Details about the powertrain options remain under wraps, but we expect it to share turbocharged 1.0-liter and 1.3-liter units with the upcoming Renault Duster.
The official debut of the Tekton in India is scheduled for 2026, and sales will commence in the same year. It will be manufactured locally at the Chennai plant in collaboration with Renault and although Nissan plans to expand its presence in India, it has already confirmed that the Tekton will also be exported to select global markets in the future. More information will be announced at a later date alongside the detailed specifications.
Besides the Renault Duster, rivals of the Nissan Tekton will include similarly-sized SUV like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and VW Taigun.
