The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) is a non-profit that compiles data on vehicle thefts in America. According to the organization’s latest data, things are looking up. There were 334,114 vehicles stolen through the first half of 2025. That number represented a 23% year-over-year decline from 2024. Only one state, Alaska, reported an uptick in car thefts through the first half of 2025. But despite the broad improvement, there is still one vehicle that thieves more than any other: the Hyundai Elantra.
