Car wheels require manufacturers to make compromises. A smooth wheel surface is ideal for aerodynamic efficiency. And as we’ve seen with electric vehicles, the size and shape of the wheel can have a dramatic impact on range. However, a perfectly smooth wheel would have no means to dissipate the heat generated under braking. A functional wheel must provide both.
