But it’s hard to argue that anything has been more impactful than the meteoric rise of Toyota over the second half of the 20th century. In about 75 years, the Japanese company has grown into the planet’s largest automotive conglomerate. Its Toyota and Lexus brands have sold more than 10.8 million vehicles globally in 2024 — the most in the world for the fifth year running.
