Artificial intelligence giant Anthropic continues to scale up its San Francisco presence, leasing about 100,000 square feet at 400 Howard St., the San Francisco Business Times reported. Owned by the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio, 400 Howard is across the street from 300 Howard, which Anthropic leased in its entirety this past January.
The roughly 370,000-square-foot 400 Howard, one of four buildings in the Foundry Square complex, is part of Anthropic’s “long-term commitments” as it continues to scale in San Francisco, a company spokesperson told the Business Times. It will house Anthropic employees before 300 Howard does, according to the spokesperson.
Anthropic has an existing presence at two nearby San Francisco office towers: 500 Howard St., where it subleases approximately 240,000 square feet from Slack, and 505 Howard St., where last year it leased roughly 100,000 square feet. The 500 and 505 Howard leases are expected to expire in 2028.
