Stile Bertone is one of the oldest automotive design houses to come out of Italy, having been founded by Giovanni Bertone in Turin all the way back in 1912. Remaining in family hands until its bankruptcy in 2014, Bertone ultimately fell victim to the global financial crisis and a shifting industry landscape. As automakers increasingly brought their design work in-house, independent studios like Bertone – once the creative heart of Italy’s car culture – found themselves without the commissions that had sustained them for generations.
