- BMW Motorrad has revealed a crazy concept bike based on the new R 1300 R.
- The Titan pumps up the stock 143 hp boxer twin with a big shot of nitrous oxide.
- An extended swing arm, Akrapovic exhaust and carbon panels add to the drama.
If you follow developments in the motorcycle world ,you’ll know that this year BMW replaced the old R 1250 R with an R 1300 R Roadster that’s much more different than the numbers would suggest. And you’ll also know that both of those bikes look about as exciting as a 50cc scooter next to this nutty Titan concept BMW has created from the R 1300 R.
Drawing a ton of inspiration from the modified bike world, the Titan hunkers down low over its front wheel as if the front forks are at full compression. Factory naked bikes wear their mechanical hearts on their sleeves, but this one puts everything on show. That includes the titanium Akrapovic exhaust that snakes its way from the each of the 143 hp (145 PS) boxer engine’s two cylinders and up over the back wheel.

At the top of the bike a carbon fiber panel envelopes the fuel tank (leaving an air hole for the cone intake filter) and sweeps to the rear where it forms a tiny seat. Pillion pad? Mudguard? You won’t find them here because this is just a concept so there’s no need for boring practical or legal concerns.
Instead, the focus is on extreme performance with a naughty street-racing, stunt-riding lilt, and it seems like BMW Motorrad is much better at letting its hair down in that regard than the car division is. Can you imagine BMW revealing a concept car with nitrous, for example?
The Titan has it courtesy of a NOS bottle located between the two tailipipes, along with an extended drag-style swing arm to help it put all that power down cleanly at the lights without turning turtle.
The Titan is far too wild to become a production bike in its current form, but Motorrad has a habit of bringing some incredible creations to the street so don’t bet against some of the ideas seen here appearing, even in somewhat milder form, on a future BMW motorcycle you can buy.
In the meantime, who else would like to see Munich’s car team dream up a crazy M2 concept that, like the Titan, takes its cues from what’s going on in the tuning scene rather than the motorsport world?
