
In the fight between internal combustion and electric power, BMW is winning, but only because the German automaker simply isn’t taking sides. According to an interview with Motor1, BMW sold more V8s than ever in 2024, buoyed by the polarizing-but-successful M5 super-sedan and a handful of luxury- and sport-oriented four-doors and crossovers. Yet the Bavarians’ success with its twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 hasn’t come at the expense of electrification, posting the world’s highest sales of premium EVs last year as well.
