BMW is betting big on its Neue Klasse (German for “new class”) family of models. According to the automaker’s Chief Technical Officer Frank Weber, it’s the most expensive project in the brand’s history because the holistic approach involves developing a new design language, vehicle architecture, and battery cells. The first two vehicles to ride on this new platform are an SUV and a sedan, with the utility vehicle coming to market first as an electric alternative to the X3.
