The spectacular Bugatti W16 Mistral is one of the most powerful and exclusive roadsters in the world. Its iconic W16 engine and a production run of just 99 units guarantee its collector status. Now, one of the automaker’s most loyal customers has commissioned a thoroughly unique W16 Mistral called ‘Caroline’, named after his daughter.
In stark contrast to the sheer muscle of the 1,578-horsepower powertrain, this particular Mistral has an especially elegant, feminine specification. Inspired by the delicate beauty of flowers and the world of Haute Couture, the W16 Mistral ‘Caroline’ shows off Bugatti’s Sur Mesure department’s extraordinary expertise.

The design of the W16 Mistral ‘Caroline’ was inspired by the lavender field of Provence, pristine Parisian gardens, and the sophisticated fabrics used in Haute Couture. It starts with the Lavender paintwork, chosen only after dozens of samples with floral-inspired tones were assessed to see how they complemented the car’s sculptural surfaces. The lower body has an exposed Violet Carbon weave finish with a violet tint. Various floral motifs adorn the Mistral’s exterior and interior, including on the retractable rear wing, which also displays the ‘Caroline’ script.
Inside, this unique Bugatti gets Blanc and Minuit leather. The violet and white shades look stunning when combined with the jewel-like detailing throughout the car’s interior. Hand-stitched floral motifs are applied to each headrest, while the gear selector features Rembrandt Bugatti’s ‘Dancing Elephant’ encased in glass, a beautiful link to the automaker’s heritage.

“Creating a Sur Mesure vehicle is always an extraordinary journey; one that’s defined by trust, collaboration and a shared pursuit of perfection,” said Hendrik Malinowski, Managing Director of Bugatti. “With the W16 Mistral ‘Caroline’, we have had the privilege of bringing an exceptionally elegant vision to life, working closely with the customer to shape every detail with precision and care. The car is of remarkable beauty and individuality – one that reflects Bugatti’s heritage of savoir-faire and innovation, and the unique story and graceful taste of its owner.”

What is Bugatti’s Sur Mesure?
Bugatti describes the Sur Mesure department as the pinnacle of customization. Whatever inspires the Bugatti of your dreams, you can technically create it with an unlimited selection of exterior colors, embroideries, and leather finishes. Bugatti says that customization can extend to the smallest details, such as the rims and oil cap. As with the ‘Caroline’, the theme can be expressed through art, like that car’s numerous floral motifs.

“The Bugatti Sur Mesure team assists you in finding the perfect interpretations and visualizing them in whatever way you wish: subtle or self-evident,” said the automaker.
Although the value of this one-off wasn’t shared, it’s far beyond the reach of most mere mortals. Considering that a “normal” W16 Mistral already goes for around $5 million, the fully customized ‘Caroline’ likely adds several hundred thousand to the bill.
